The session at Wrotham started with practical demonstrations for accurately identify slopes on greens – not necessarily ones you can see. Often, your eyes can be easily deceived by green shapes and outside information leading you to believe a slope exists when it does not.

Time was spent learning how slopes affect the path of a ball and how a slope can affect the ball in different ways, depending upon the length of the putt.

Fundamental for every hole position on the green, there will be a ball position where, at a given length, the putt is perfectly straight. There will be somewhere at 5ft where you have a straight putt, at 10ft and at 15ft. These positions may not necessarily all be in a straight line but they do exist.

Depending on green shape, we were told, there may be a number of positions around the hole where a straight putt exists both above and below the hole. Identify these ‘zero lines’ is the basis of the system.

Factors affecting each putt

The session also demonstrated how much the difference in angle of a putt compared to the ‘zero line’ affected the break. Unsurprisingly, putts made at 90 degrees to the ‘zero line’ are affected far more severely than those made at a shallower angle. The Aimpoint system uses mathematical modelling used on TV to predict the break of a putt is, depending on a number of factors.

Starting in the game of golf can be confusing with all of the equipment available, people offering you free tips, and the feeling that you have to take everything so seriously. There are three golf tips for beginners that I was given by my instructor when I started, and that has really been a big help to me.

1. Don’t Break the Bank With Your First Set of Clubs

As a beginner, you are not going to get all of the benefits that come from a top of the line set of golf clubs. As a beginner, you are not going to have the consistent contact or club head speed needed. Instead, think about buying a cheaper set, or better yet, get yourself a used set. You may also be able to use a free set from one of your more experienced friends until you figure out which clubs would be best for you.

2. Be Aware of Who is Giving You Instruction

Your friends, relatives, and sometimes people who don’t even know you will think they have the golf tips for beginners that will fix all of your problems. Granted, if you have friends who are pretty good golfers, it may help to listen to them when you are first starting. However, to really understand the game, as a beginner, get your instruction from a professional. Golf pros are experienced in fixing swing problems and explaining things to you in terms of how they affect ball flight. Lessons are available at most any golf course, and even just a couple will really help set a good foundation for your game.

3. Enjoy Yourself

It may sound simple, but one of the best golf tips for beginners is to just have fun with the game. Keep in mind that you are probably not going to be getting your PGA card. Being competitive is fine, and of course you are going to want to continue to improve, but golf is a leisure game. Take your time out there and have fun with your friends.

These three golf tips for beginners can make all of the difference in the world. If you just get the right clubs to start, take instruction from those who know the game, and have fun, then golf will be a great way for you to spend your leisure time.

Various aspects of golf training have expanded rapidly, but one area of development that has caught on somewhat slowly is golf-specific strength training.

Not until very recently has this specific need been addressed. As with many things, it started at the top with pros like Tiger Woods and David Duval and began to trickle down to the masses over time. Unfortunately, many golfers still live under the old assumption that strength training is detrimental. The truth is that the days of simply practicing and playing to make yourself a stronger and better golfer are from a bygone era.

I am not trying to diminish the fact that ultimately golf skills are the most important aspect of golf, but improving your swing performance will only get you so far. If you want to develop into the best player you can be, you better get with the program—a strength training program, that is.

Let’s take a look at a few of the fallacies that may be holding some of you back.

Fallacy #1: Resistance training will cause a loss of flexibility.

Fact: It is a proven fact that full range of motion resistance training will actually improve your flexibility.

Fallacy #2: Resistance training will result in “bulking up”.

Fact: Performing resistance training by itself will not cause the development of excess muscle mass; additional caloric intake is also required. Some individuals are under the impression that lifting heavier weights for fewer repetitions will cause this “bulking-up” phenomenon. This is also false. As a matter of fact, lifting heavier weights for fewer repetition is one way to gain strength without adding “bulk”. Therefore, if you are involved in a program designed to develop stability, strength, and power specific to the needs of golf, you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

Fallacy #3: Resistance training will have adverse effects on your swing.

Fact: Performing resistance training can actually have a positive effect on your swing. Resistance training helps develop what is known as kinesthetic awareness, the ability to detect bodily position, weight, and movement of the muscles, tendons, and joints.

Fallacy #4: Swinging a weighted club will produce more specific strength gains than performing a resistance training program.

Fact: If anything, swinging a weighted club will produce an improper swing. The compensation required to swing the weighted club creates faulty swing mechanics and firing patterns. Also, most weighted club programs call for using the clubs at slow speeds. The problem with that is when golfers tee up, they are not trying to drive the ball with a 50-75% swing. They want to all-out blast it down the fairway with a powerful 100% swing. If the name of the game for golfers is club head SPEED, using a heavy club and a slow swing to gain strength won’t work. To gain strength and develop speed, you have to train for speed.

Fallacy #5: It takes too much time.

Fact: You can’t afford not to start a golf-specific flexibility, strength, and conditioning program if you desire to be the best golfer you can be. Depending on your individual starting point, you may be able to make progress with as little as a 1 ½ hours training time per week. A small investment that will reap huge dividends on the course.

Hopefully, reading this article helped shed some light on the truth about strength training for golf and how it is NOT detrimental to your game, but more than likely, VERY beneficial.

Many golf beginners are confused about the basic specifications of the club, such as lie, swing-weight, bounce and so on. They can hardly choose an appropriate club for themselves by the specifications. Here we will talk about the meanings of different specifications.

Loft

“Loft” is the angle between the club face and the vertical lines. You can see 10 degree and 15 degree on the woods, which mean the loft is 10° and 15°. If you want a club that can shot the ball farther, you can choose a club with smaller loft.

Lie and Offset

“Lie” refers to the angle between the shaft and the ground when the bottom of the club parallels to the ground. Many brands of high handicap clubs are designed with a high lie to avoid slice. “Offset” is designed to avoid slice as well. Too much offset will cause troubles in the shots.

Swing Weight

Swing Weight refers to the pull between the club face and shaft, when the club is placed horizontally on the measuring instrument. Swing weight is offten written with a character “A-E” and a number “0-9″. Usually, average players will choose a club with swing weight between C8-D3. Though the more swing weight will improve feel, too much will cause fatigue even mistakes in playing.

Flex

“Flex” refers to the hardness of the club. There are L, A (or M), R, S (or F), and X flex to select. Different brands have different flex. Before buying a club, you’d better be clear what’s the flex of it and what’s your swing speed.

Different specifaction clubs have different performance. It is recommended that average golfers choose clubs according to the international standard. There are three steps to select a suitable club: 1. confirm the specifications for your club; 2. Try to play with it (if necessary, make it customized); 3. See whether it can help you improve your game and decide whether to buy it or not.

TaylorMade with its back taper technology, expanding the sweet spot off-center click reduced on the overall losses. Universal multifunctional shoes stand out in any lies. R9 has a new the maximum of 25 * 5 iron loft is more wide and robust the sole criterion, more than offset by the Japanese 9 iron. Who want an ultra-R9 tolerant and forgiveness should be chosen from the are packaged of the largest super-R9 iron technology.

When the comparator the two side by side in the iron side, Max is not much bigger, but you can clearly see the size a slight expanded. Overall, therefore, R9’s Max is not in any way huge top line, but the thick side. The only clue to do a more extensive cavity and of a high Ballistic launching weight of the first lower, the distance between we talking about here is with a strong iron loft. taylormade r9 forged irons
Interestingly, although all have inverted cone the technical, and what players often sign as an additional perceived forgiveness, pocket cavity is actually iron R9, R9, not the greatest.

I could hit a high soft draw with the R9 Max as advertised but I still need to hone my game to properly play the R9. Size wise the R9 will satisfy a lot of players, it is relatively small, almost as small as a compact player’s cavity like the Epon AF-302 whose dimensions match up favorably.

The difference being the R9 is longer heel to toe than the Epon and has a slightly thicker tapered top line. I believe it will suit the player with a 10 handicap or above but lower handicappers may not want the pocket cavity and longer heel to toe. This may in fact be the case as it appears the taylormade r9 forged irons may not have sold well as expected. Other Japan only models like the Burner Forged have been flying off the shelves and the new Burner TP which is already sold out jus by PRE- ORDER!

Who would’ve guessed that a fire hydrant in a ritzy Orlando suburb would produce the biggest stream of stories for the golf world in 2010? From adult film actresses to Perkins waitresses to steroid questions to divorce hearings, Tiger Woods went through it all in 2010, dominating the golfing — and tabloid — headlines.

The Woods infidelity saga was easily the top story in golf this past year, but what else was on the radar — both nationally and here at home in New Jersey? We’re glad you asked.

NATIONAL
1. Tiger, Tiger, Tiger
From a 13-minute, no-questions press conference to his contrite comments at Augusta and everywhere in between, 2010 was all about Tiger Woods. But there was one thing that was missing from his calendar year: a win. Not only did Woods go major-less for the second straight year, but he didn’t win any tournament. He withdrew from the Players because of an injury, finished near the bottom of the field of his own tournament and was even out-done by Graeme McDowell in the Chevron World Challenge. Oh, and he finally was overtaken as the world’s No. 1 golfer by Lee Westwood in the fall. Certainly no one is anticipating the ball drop more than Woods tonight.

2. Cardigan Power
He looked like some anachronism on Father’s Day along the misty Pebble Beach coast, but under his dapper grey cardigan, Graeme McDowell began his ascent to the top of the game. While everyone around him careened out of control during the U.S. Open’s final round, the Northern Irishman was cool as ice, winning his first major. But McDowell and his magical cardigan didn’t stop there. At the Ryder Cup in October, McDowell was the energy behind the Europeans dramatic win at Celtic Manor. What will he do for an encore? A Graeme Slam, perhaps?

3. By the (Rules) book
Was it a bunker or wasn’t it? That’s what everyone will remember about 2010’s final major at Whistling Straits at the PGA Championship, when Dustin Johnson appeared to ground his club in what he believed was a waste bunker off to the side of the 18th hole. But what it highlighted was some of the antiquated — and legitimate — rules of the game. There was Jim Furyk’s dead cell phone battery which got the FedEx Points leader DQ’d before the week even started at the Barclays in Ridgewood and Juli Inkster being bumped from an event for using a practice weight during a round. Note to every golfer in 2011: read the Rules of Golf before your first rounds.

4. King Louis Reigns
We’ll admit it: We had to go back and look up how to spell the British Open champion’s last name. What no one will forget however, is how totally-off-the-map Louis Oosthuizen of South Africa not only won the 2010 Open Championship at St Andrews, but lapped the field. Everyone assumed that with Paul Casey nipping at his heels to begin the final round, Oosthuizen would fade and disappear into the great beyond. Nope. As Casey (and everyone else for that matter) crumbled, Oosthuizen shot a 16-under to win the Claret Jug by a whopping seven strokes.

5. Fay’s Exit
This one snuck in under the gun, when on the morning of Christmas Eve, USGA Executive Director David Fay sent out an email to the staff of Golf House announcing his resignation after 21 years on the job. The longtime Summit resident told The Star-Ledger in an exclusive interview that night that “It’s been a great run and it’s time to call it a day.” Fay’s legacy will go down as being the man who broke down the wall and brought the U.S. Open to the people. He took the USGA’s marquee event out of the country club set and to a public, daily-fee course for the first time at Bethpage Black in 2002. In the process, he changed the outlook on venues for one of golf’s storied majors.

At the same time you can get Ping K15 Irons and ping rapture v2 driver at the best price on Cheap Golf Store

There are no tournaments the rest of the year, so the final 2010 ranking became available Monday.

Among other criteria, the Masters invites players who are in the top 50 at the end of the year. The ranking is mainly for players who are not PGA Tour members and have fewer avenues to qualify, such as winning a tour event or getting into the FedEx Cup finale.

O’Hair started the year No. 15 and did not win a tournament or reach the Tour Championship. He ended the year at No. 43. The other 11 qualifiers include Francesco and Edoardo Molinari, Robert Karlsson, Charl Schwartzel and Ryo Ishikawa.

That brings to 91 the number of players who have qualified for the Masters, which has the smallest field of the four majors. Augusta National prefers to keep its field at about 100.

Players still can qualify for the Masters by getting into the top 50 a week before the tournament, or winning a PGA Tour event that offers full FedEx Cup points.

The Masters will be played April 7-10, with Phil Mickelson the defending champion and Tiger Woods trying to end his longest drought without a major or a green jacket. Woods last won the Masters in 2005, and he has gone 10 majors without winning.

Clearly, the good doctor meant no harm. It was just an ordinary afternoon of golf when his ball hooked distressingly off line, hitting another golfer in the eye. Cue the lawyers.

This was a Dr. Rogers in 1963 at the Duffins Creek Golf Club in Ontario, Canada, not Dr. Anoop Kapoor at Dix Hills Golf Course on Long Island in 2002, whose errant shot into the eye of Dr. Azaz Anand produced a ruling by the New York State Court of Appeals on Tuesday that the accident was part of the assumed risk of playing golf. But it could have been a similar claim at the Cliftonville Golf Club in Northern Ireland in 1937, the Canadian case Finnie v. Ropponen in 1987, Boozer v. Arizona Country Club in 1967, the Scottish case Andrew v. Stevenson in 1905 or many hundreds of others.

Ever since people have trod meadows and moors intent on striking hard white balls with bottom-weighted clubs, people have been suing one another for shots gone awry. Mizuno JPX AD Fairway Wood has evolved into the perfect litigation machine, beloved by lawyers, perhaps because so many are making a good living filing suits, defending suits and providing advice on injuries, course and product design, environmental damage, discrimination and almost anything that could conceivably find its way into a courtroom.

“Golf and the law seem to have been made for each other,” writes Craig Brown, a law professor at the University of Western Ontario in “Why Lawyers Love Golf,” published in 2007 in Australia by Scribblers Publishing. “On every fairway, in every stretch of rough, in every clubhouse, in every golf bag, at every swing at the ball, in every set of plans for a new course, in every application for club membership, there lurks a potential lawsuit.”

There’s much logic to this. Golf involves hitting a rock-hard ball at high speed in unpredictable directions. Its devotees often range from the comfortable to the wealthy, the perfect demographic for suing and being sued. Golfers cover all ages, but many are old enough that the misplaced step onto sod covering a hole that is shrugged off by a 20-year-old ends the square-dancing career of a retiree in her 60s. It involves vast areas of land, often including wetlands and endangered species, and tons of fertilizer and pesticides. Its products (balls alone are a three-quarter billion-dollar business in the United States) and brand names (witness the Big Bertie knockoffs of Big Bertha drivers) are the subject of billion-dollar patent infringement and intellectual property claims.

So the legal issues come in all shapes and sizes. Often they involve golf carts, mizuno mx 1000 irons can tip over and kill or injure their occupants. They involve environmental issues: the Battlefield Golf Club in Virginia was sued for $1.6 billion in 2009 by 400 nearby residents who claimed that 1.5 million tons of fly ash used to construct the course contaminated their well water.

First round with new sticks shot 91 (slope 132). Went to the range a couple of times then two weeks later second round at a different course shot 83 (slope 130). One week after that, (actually two days previous to this writing), at another course shot 82 (slope 130). What has changed was a small amount of increased difference in length from precious irons, which is always a nice bonus, a good amount of difference in length with the new Adams hybrids, even mis-hits feel good, but most important was straighter shots where previous Mizuno Mx 200 Irons had a tendency to go left, with almost no distance loss even with thin hits because the irons still produced great elevation and good stopping on greens. When hit “sweet” they added about 7 yards. My goal is to shoot 80 and I am very excited that I can see that happening in the near future. Bottom line is I can highly recommend two things… get fitted for your clubs and definitely try the Mizuno MX200 irons, and if you’re like me and can’t hit the longer irons check yourself out on the Adams A7OS hybrids. FYI: I’m 68 years old with fairly good flexibility and play about once a week if I can. Average distance from the tee 245-260. Average 7 iron 150-155. Hope that helps anyone thinking about some new “arrows”.

All of these irons are good, during many rounds of golf I have hit a great shot with every single one of these iron sets. With a good lie, and a good look, I could hit any one of these sets’ 9 irons a few feet from the pin. However, none felt like they were 100% “me”. Until I came upon these MX-200’s, they just have this beautiful feel you get from a forged iron, it’s so amazing and pure and buttery and great. Yet these irons are also forgiving enough for most players. (beginners are probably going to still need to look for a wider soled, super game improvement iron) Distance is fine, no better, no worse then most leading iron brands, but with irons, that’s usually not the most important factor.

YOU might find some other irons better, My best golfing buddy that I play with 3 times a week loves his Callaway’s, another buddy swears by his Bridgestones, and another loves his Titleist’s. But at the end of the day, we all play about the same number. For me the MX200’s are the winner! It’s the first time in a while that I dont “look” at other iron sets when I walk into a golf shop. Or get the urge to hit a new cool iron set in the simulator. Now I just check out the new hybrids and wedges.

My other favorite irons in order from best to worst are, new 2010 Macgregor m85 Tourney, Titleist AP1 710’s, Ping i15’s, Cleveland golds……

Try every iron set out there before you buy, eventually you will find your Mizuno Mx 200 Irons . Good luck in your hunt for your new irons.

Unlike with the Calloway’s, I got professionally fitted which definitely makes a difference- the analysis of my swing and clubs indicated that the lie was a little too flat, explaining why so many of my shots pushed left (I am left-handed) even on what felt like a perfect swing.

I have played the 200’s for about four rounds now and absolutely love them. I have never hit a straighter or more consistent ball- particularly with my mid-irons 6-8. I got them adjusted +2 degrees on the lie (Mizuno is known to be a flatter club and I have a very upright swing) and paired them with the KBS FST shafts-stiff flex. Amazing combination. Despite the club weight being notably heavier than my X-18’s, the balance is perfect and I have the confidence to release fully. The ball flight is medium-high; very similar to the X-18 but more consistent, and a bit further.

I view the Calloway irons as excellent clubs, and suspect I would have played much better with them had I been fitted. But I cannot say enough about the feel of these Mizuno irons- great clubs. And they are gorgeous as well.

Also i am very happy that i get this irons in the incredibible price which is only $399.99.Find the clubs you want on Cheap Golf Store
