Ping is constantly upgrading and designing new ideas in their onlne golf clubs, such as the “G” and “K” lines. Many players are curiously waiting for the next generation of the G15’s, the G20, because they are looking forward to improve their game. The G20 series are said to be introduced in August 2011 at the PGA Tour’s St. Jude Classic. But they are available now on the market. Do you think G20 Irons Will Surpass G15 Irons?

Similar and improvement:

1.They Have Similar Looks With G15 Irons But Still Different

As for looks, apparently they are very similar to the Ping G15 Irons, with a slightly darker red and more satin finish. The adjustable lie on the G20 is two degrees flatter than the G15’s. A more curved look to it than the G15’s with a new soft layer on the back to help with sound, feel and vibrations.

2.Thinner Face Will Add Forgiveness

The thinner face of the Ping G20 Irons helps position weight to the toe for added forgiveness. The wider sole provides a higher launch angle. Strong lofts and a low center of gravity produce long shots with a high trajectory and maximum forgiveness.

3.New Custom Tuning Port Expands Perimeter Weighting and Increases MOI

Ping G20 Irons features a new Custom Tuning Port which expands perimeter weighting and increases MOI. The steel shafts also look new, with more evenly spaced steps than the traditional AWT shafts, with a unique and interesting feel.

4.A Nice Cross Between The G15 and K15 Model

The Ping G20 Irons feature some added weight on the back end of the iron set that they stole from the tip/hosel section. It sits well and square, with a lower face height and sleeker look. It was described as a nice cross between the G15 and K15 model.

How I feel when I hit the G20 irons compared G15?

1.The G20’s are a pretty nive looking club up close IMO. The badge/CTP has some heft to it and seems to have more weight than the one on the G15.

2.The G20 felt noticably lighter than the my G15 irons. The shaft certainly felt lighter. The club was actually easier to swing as well.

3.The sole of the G20 was very close to the same size as the G15. At least I could not tell that much of a difference. If I had to lean one way, I would say it was a bit narrower.

4.I even did the fingernail test to see if the grooves were different and they seemed to be the same depth on both models.

5. Swinging the G20 was a breeze. I could tell the weight was certainly different and the club certainly launched the ball higher. Was hitting into a white net and could tell where the ball was hitting. I was consistently a little higher with the G20. Not too much, but I could tell.

6. Feel: I was actually surprised at how the G20 felt. I was one who was wondering how PING would improve on the G15. I certainly could tell the iron was softer when making contact with ball. Perhps this was due to the materinal used on the back of the club head that dappens vibration. Whatever it was, it worked. The club swing smoothly from front to back.

7. Distance: As I mentioned I could not tell, however the G15 still felt good to me and althought I hit the G20 a bit higher that may not translate into more distance. I have tried many irons and consistently hit my 8 iron right at 135 yards.

8. Advantage: I guess getting the ball up quicker and softer feel it goes to the new G20. Consistency, familairity and distance I would probably stick with my trusted G15’s. I will be going to another store this weekend to test these out on a monitor to check distances. If I hit the G20’s five yards longer I would prob stick with the 15’s. I just dont see me hitting them 10 yards longer. I will let you know.

Reading above , which one is your decison? Make decision and get them right now at cheapgolfspace.com

The Callaway RAZR X Irons is a game-improvement iron that has a huge hitting area. The club designers at Callaway have apparently heard the complaints and they have been doing everything in their power to build clubs that better players under the age of 40 would love. Simply put, when I address the ball, I want to look down at a sleek club that evokes confidence, not one that rattles me with thoughts that I’m about to hit Fred Flinstone’s sticks.

There’s less offset in the RAZR X Tour irons when compared with the RAZR X, but once again, because the CG has been driven so low and deep, Callaway strengthened the lofts of the RAZR X Tours. The Callaway RAZR X Tour irons (pictured right) do just that because the company made sure to put the extra weight where the player couldn’t see it at address, giving even the most forgiving club a streamlined appearance.

Most irons today are designed to maximize one specific performance benefit distance, forgiveness or feel while sacrificing all other critical areas needed to hit more greens. The Left Handed Callaway RAZR X HL irons creates tighter shots, shorter putts and lower scores through uncompromised performance.

To consistently hit it close and shoot lower scores, golfers need to be able to make shots from all areas of the golf course. That’s why RAZR Technology is such a breakthrough. This technology will lead the industry into the next generation of iron design by delivering the distance and forgiveness of a wide sole iron while retaining the playability and turf interaction advantages of a thin sole iron.

Michael Jordan will be unable to serve as an assistant captain for the U.S. Presidents Cup team in Australia due to the NBA’s continuing labor issues.

Jordan, who is majority owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, will be replaced by Champions Tour player John Cook, an 11-time PGA Tour winner who is also close with team member Tiger Woods. (PING G15 Driver)

“After careful consideration, it is with regret that I have decided to cancel my trip to Australia later this month for The Presidents Cup,” Jordan said in a statement released by the PGA Tour. “With the NBA labor situation unsettled, as the majority owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, I feel it is necessary that I remain in the country. It was an honor to have been chosen by Fred Couples to serve as a captain’s assistant. I wish Fred and the United States team the best of luck.”

“While the team will miss his friendship, spirit and leadership, we certainly understand the complexity of his current team obligations,” Couples said.

The NBA is in the midst of a lockout that has cost the league the first month of a season that was scheduled to begin on Tuesday.

Jordan has served in the role of honorary captain for Couples at the Presidents Cup played in San Francisco in 2009 and won by the United States over an international team led by Australia’s Greg Norman. (TaylorMade Burner SuperFast 2.0 Driver) The competition is similar to the Ryder Cup, with a squad of international players from outside of Europe taking on the Americans.

The only time the U.S. has lost the competition that began in 1994 was the last time it was played at Royal Melbourne in 1998.

When Couples was re-named to the post for this year, he again asked Jay Haas and Jordan to join him as assistants. Couples then chose Cook to replace the NBA Hall of Famer. (Titleist AP1 712 Irons)

Cook, who is playing in this week’s Charles Schwab Cup on the Champions Tour, will join Couples, Woods, Norman and several others participating in the Presidents Cup at next week’s Australian Open in Sydney. The Presidents Cup is Nov. 17-20.

Great Grips

Ben Hogan was considered to be one of the most accurate ball strikers in the history of the game. Sam Snead won the most PGA Tour events while, in my opinion, Jack Nicklaus is the game’s greatest player. What’s my point? These three men have had the best golf grips that I have ever seen. Their grips were highly instructive in their similarity and magnificent in their functionality, effectiveness, simplicity, beauty and balance.

The Key Element

The grip is the single most influential fundamental in developing a solid, reliable and repeatable golf swing.

Do it right and you will improve dramatically in the short term, but it will also lay the foundation for long-term optimization of every aspect of your game. It dictates how you will and must swing the club in order to produce your desired result.

Every player who has dominated competitive golf, from Harry Vardon to Tiger Woods and from Patti Berg to Annika Sorenstam, used a grip that is 99% of what I teach. I strongly strongly recommend this grip.

The Checkpoints

1. The palms of the hands face each other on the grip.

2. The palms of the hands face in the same line as the leading edge of the clubface.

3. When affixing your grip, make sure that you have equal pressure on all sides of the shaft.

4. The left side of the shaft goes across the mid points of the left hand. Close the last three fingers and the heel of the hand first, then the index finger and then the thumb. The thumb is neither long nor short, but is naturally positioned just to the right of the middle of the shaft.

5. The right side of the shaft goes across an angle that is parallel to the angle the shaft went across the left hand, but about an inch farther down in the fingers. Close the middle two fingers first, then cover the pocket of the palm of the hand over the left thumb. Curl the index finger, the thumb goes to the left side of the shaft and the pinkie goes in the groove between the left index and middle fingers.

6. There are no gaps … everything fits nicely together. The hands are compact and unified. The grip pressure is created by the form of the grip.

7. The back of the left hand is the clubface; the palm of the right hand is the clubface. Where the hands are the clubface will follow.

The Effect

This grip will make you look like a golfer and feel like a golfer. It should also allow you to hit quality shots, and further develop a swing motion to produce the same results as the most accomplished golfers in the world.

Additional Reading

Look for my new book, “The Absolute Best Grip In The World: How to Finally Take Control of Your Golf Game.” It is a comprehensive and detailed reference on how each and every golfer can learn to create the best golf grip to produce a solid swing.

Bernhard Langer returns to defend his Senior Open crown following a four-month layoff after undergoing surgery, at a venue which handed him his first Ryder Cup defeat thirty years ago.

Hardly form to strike fear into the golden oldies taking part at the picturesque Walton Heath Golf Club this week.

Langer, whose last victory on the Champions Tour circuit came at the ACE Group Classic in February, has not played in a competitive tournament since the Toshiba Classic in March, finishing in a tie for 28th.

But write the two-time major champion Langer off at your peril – since the most successful German golfer to grace the world stage has a natural affinity for this historic Surrey track.

“It will be great to return to Walton Heath to defend my title,” said Langer, who edged out Corey Pavin by one shot at Carnoustie 12 months ago.

“I was fortunate enough to play in a couple of European Opens at Walton Heath before making my Ryder Cup appearance in 1981 and I loved it straight away.

“It’s parkland with a real links feel to it. I enjoy the heathland, the trees and the bunkering – all in all, it’s a great inland course.”

Langer followed up his major triumph a week later with a three-shot victory to Fred Couples at the US Senior Open to become the first player to win back-to-back senior majors since American Tom Watson.

Watson, a record three-time Senior Open champion, arrives fresh off another stellar Open Championship performance of tied 22nd, having provided one of the most exhilarating moments at Royal St George’s last week – holing out at the par-3 6th on day two for the 15th ace of his illustrious career.

Other players expected to contend this week include the 1996 Open champion Tom Lehman, who matched Watson’s position at Sandwich, the 1994 Open champion and Senior Open debutant Nick Price and Tom Pernice Jr, who finished runner-up at last week’s Viking Classic.

Odyssey is the first name in Insert Technology and cutting-edge golf putters. But Odyssey Backstryke 2-Ball Putter is the most popular product of it ,it features :

Visible Face Alignment

Allows you to clearly see if the face of the putter is square to the target line, without the shaft impeding your line of sight. This provides an unprecedented visual aid in lining up putts to the target line for precision and accuracy.

Stroke Balance

Creates a putter balanced on the axis of the putting stroke, which promotes a fluid, stable stroke path that is more consistent and accurate, and also leads to better distance control.

White Ice Insert

This multi-layer insert has been fine-tuned to enhance sound, responsiveness, resiliency and consistency. The inner core is 19.6% firmer to enhance the feel and 92% stiffer for better resiliency. The face surface has been roughened to enhance the sound at impact with softer golf balls; this rough texture also helps increase friction between the ball and the insert to promote forward roll.

Advanced Roll Technology

The multi-material construction results in the lowest and deepest center of gravity of any Odyssey putter line, giving you better, quicker, and truer roll.

You might remember David West, better known as Mr Novice2Scratch.

Well the 42-year old Hitchin man, attempting to go from a novice golfer to scratch within a year, was given a timely boost in his challenge when he teed it up with Ladies European Tour star Tara Dayer-Smith at Mount Pleasant Golf Club, Lower Stondon.

Last August, West was made redundant from a leading credit data agency and decided to embark on an ambitious quest to go from a complete novice golfer to a scratch player in just 12 months.

After being publicly backed by Wilson Staff and moving from the brand’s X31 irons he purchased to the new Di11 irons, he has now been helped by fellow Hitchin resident Dayer-Smith, who earned her Ladies European Tour card last year after almost 10 years out of the game.

“To be given the chance to play with Tara and take on some of her technical and mental advice has inspired me,” said David. “After being out the game so long, it’s amazing to think she’s come back and earned her Tour card within just six months.

“My dream is to reach scratch standard by September and Tara’s is to win the Women’s British Open and play for Europe in the Solheim Cup – it will be interesting to see if we can both fulfill our ambitions!”

Dayer-Smith, 30, made her first ever appearance on the Ladies European Tour in May after being given enough money by a friend’s company to take part in the Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco.

“David has amazing passion for learning the game,” she said. “If he keeps working hard and receiving such great support, I think making it to scratch this summer is a real possibility.”

David plans to work his way through the Wilson Staff irons range, up to the FG Tour irons currently used by three-time Major champion Padraig Harrington.

You can follow David’s progress here, while Tara’s website launches on February 1.

Marriott Golf is extending its successful winter online offer at one of the finest courses in the Midlands. During March and April golfers can book a round over the Arden Championship course (where European Tour events have been played) at Marriott Forest of Arden Hotel & Country Club, near Coventry, from as little as £35.

If the booking is made online each player will also receive a £10 voucher redeemable against goods purchased in the resort’s well-stocked golf shop. The same offer is available on the resort’s Aylesford Course, with green fees from £20. The offer is subject to availability and only bookings made online are eligible to receive the £10 voucher.

“We introduced the offer in November to drive more online business and it has proved to be a huge success,” said Iain Burns, the director of golf at the club.

The Arden course has staged five British Masters in 1997, 1998, 2003, 2004 and 2005 and also three successive European Opens between 2000 and 2002. Past winners include Colin Montgomerie, Darren Clarke and Thomas Björn.

In a bizarre finish to his round, Spaniard Miquel Angel Jimenez holed three birdie putts using his wedge to tie the lead in the Volvo Golf Champions European Tour event in Bahrain today.

The Spaniard, angered by a double bogey six at 14, snapped the shaft of his Ping Scottsdale Pick-me-up putter in frustration, much to the amusement of playing partners Darren Clarke and Colin Montgomerie, who jokingly observed that maybe now he was carrying an illegal 15 clubs in his bag.

But Jimenez shrugged it off and holed out short putts by hovering his wedge behind the ball and striking it with the leading edge to great effect.

“I think now I putt with my lob-wedge,” joked the Ryder Cup star.

Jimenez finished with a 65 on 11-under par, alongside Edoardo Molinari (65), Raphael Jaquelin (65) and Peter Hanson (67).

As darkness closed in four more players – Stephen Gallacher, Paul Casey, James Kingston and Clarke – were on 10-under with the projected cut forecast at one-under par.

Survivors of the cut will play in groups of two and each will be joined by an amateur. Ian Poulter, on his Twitter feed, wrote: “Should be lots of fun.”

There will be no repeats in Bahrain this week of the dramatic incidents at the US PGA at Whistling Straits where Dustin Johnson grounded his club in a bunker he thought was waste ground and suffered a two stroke penalty.

In fact bunkers do not exist on this course, the European Tour has decided such is the fine line in players identify which are bunkers hazard and which are areas where there’s no penalty for grounding your club.

It has led to several bizarre incidents which have kept rules officials on their toes and players confused.

For example Sergio Garcia had to get a ruling on the 17th where, before he dropped a plugged ball on the sloping bank of what was originally a bunker, he was able to rake the footprints he had made examining his lie.

European Tour Chief Referee Andy McFee explained: “We have taken this decision to provide clarity for the players given that the rules in the two areas are so very different. The golf course is absolutely fine but the blurring of the boundaries between desert and bunker, while visually attractive, potentially provides a major problem of definition.

“As this is common throughout the course and not restricted to the odd situation here and there, we felt this was the best way to exercise our duty to define the course properly.

And it’s not the first time it has happened.

“Kiawah Island Ocean Course is the best example,” McFee explained, “where both The 1991 Ryder Cup and the World Cup of Golf in 2003 were played with no bunkers on the course.”

And following Padraig Harrington’s disqualification in Abu Dhabi last week, he warned viewers not to be alarmed and call in with blatant rules violations.

“It will lead to some odd looking situations but that’s preferable to players incurring penalties.”
